Discernment

In this age and time, one of the major issues we are faced with every now and then is the ability to discern by the Spirit. I would link this with discerning the people who should be in your life per time.

This will be in two parts, first to Visionary Leaders and second to every believer who wants to make a headway in fulfillment of destiny.

David left Gath and escaped to the cave of Adullam. When his brothers and his father’s household heard about it, they went down to him there.  All those who were in distress or in debt or discontented gathered around him, and he became their commander. About four hundred men were with him.

1 Samuel 22:1-2 is one of our favorite verses in the ministry. David was anointed King and even though the manifestation of this beautiful word that the Lord has spoken over him wasn’t there, it still didn’t change it. When He was anointed King, the next thing the Lord did after he escaped from Saul was to bring people who were in debt, discontented, people who were in trouble, facing the economic recession, had family issues and so on. Imagine if you were the one in this position, what will you do? Won’t you think the Lord is being unfair, first by allowing Saul come after your life and now bringing people who seemed like destitute to this society wanting you to be their leader.

I believe David was a discerning man, he wasn’t just looking at what they could do for him as the anointed King of Israel, he was busy surfing in his spirit how he could be a blessing to these men, he was seeing the gold in them that would wow the world. If you are a visionary leader whom the Lord has called and all you keep looking out for are ready made people, you might not be yet ready to partner with God to see him bring beauty out of nothingness in a life.

God saw you fit to lead those people you call nothing , the earlier you stay faithful with building them by the Spirit, the better for you.

See the gold in the people you are leading, Dear Leader. See the flip part and transformation that came to those who David led, many of them were the mighty men of David but not to make this post lengthy, I will put up the scripture. 2 Samuel 23:8-39.

Imagine David gave up on them at the beginning and even during the course of his journey, they made mistakes a lot of time, they acted unruly a lot of times but God gave David a heart to shepherd them, knowing that none of them must be lost because God had kept them in his care.

As a leader, call forth who God has designed them to be, sometimes in wonder that if Jesus had not called forth who Nathaniel was and had left him because he said “Can anything come out of Nazareth?’, probably brother Nathaniel would have been lost. (John 1:43-48).

Its no lie or fables that they will stress you or sometimes cause you pain. However since God has placed them in your care, be faithful in correcting them, praying, sharing the word with them and caring for their physical needs as God helps you.

Dear Visionary Leader, love the people in your care, God has given you the grace to bring out beauty from their current state of ugliness.

You are strengthened by the LORD.

We’ll continue next week!
